Getting back on the word trolley

Whew. How are we all doing? Have you been drinking water? Taken time for yourself? Election 2020 having lasted approximately 4.5 billion years, exhaustion is understandable. Now that our four-year American nightmare is ending, take some time for self care, but also remember your goals. That’s what I’m trying to tell myself, anyway. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of internet browsing and World of Warcraft and LIFE and forget to write, but that won’t get me where I want to go. I wrote a prayer to Woden to ask for help and motivation- feel free to use it if that’s your jam.

Woden Word-Smith

your ravens peck at me

Unceasing

“Create!” they croak.

“Write!” they demand.

Merciless

Cease not, ravens

until my work is done

Show no mercy

until my wyrd is spun.

Swa biþ hit. (This just means “so be it” in Old English.)

So, time to get back on the trolley! For me, that means research for my next short story. I’ll be looking into the legend of the Gloson and its connection to årsgång, which is an ancient Swedish form of divination. It’s also an absolutely killer post-metal song by the  Swedish band Gloson. Is that where I got the idea? I’ll never tell.

What are you working on?
